The EFCGP have released an updated version of their report 'The Procedure for the Ethical Review of Protocols for Clinical Research Projects in Europe and Beyond'.
Every member state of the EU, including Norway and Sweden have adopted the EC Directive on Clinical Trials (2001). This directive, underpinned by the principles of Good Clinical Practice, ensures that all member states put in place a robust system of ethical review of clinical research projects.
In response to difficulties encountered by academic institutions and sponsors in ascertaining exactly what these systems are, as they are different for each country, a sub group of the EFGCP Ethics Working Party have released a report identifying over thirty aspects of the ethical review process and what they entail for each member state.
The 2012 update to the report can be viewed as an interactive online resource, either in ‘question by question’ or ‘country by country’ format, and can be found on the EFGCP website at http://www.efgcp.be/EFGCPReports.asp?L1=5&L2=1.
